This is the final painting table before the start of the 6MMRPC. First off I plan on continuing work on the two last earthshakers and maybe also working on some pathfinders and firewarriors. Here is a pick of those firewarrios and pathfinders with the primer and base coat done also did a bit of orange detail work on 1 guy. No pictures of the earth shakers until the next tutorial post which should be in the next week or so depending on kids and work. Also sorry the pick is so bad couldn't get a good one to save my life today.
For jokers I have decided to do it by project. So the rest of the tau would be one. Same with my marines if I get to them. The rest of the bfg tau will be one, the rest of the aqua prime ships will also be one. Each merc squad will be one along with each of the infinity factions. All the dystopian wars would also count as one. That is like 9 more possible jokers. I may have more in the future but honestly I have no idea what I will do with the jokers in the first place.
Maybe at the end of the 6 months I will reward myself x amount for each joker I have. This maybe a nice way since I also blew the last of my budget on the infinity starter. There are still other starters I may want in the future mainly dropzone commander, Planet fall and dystopian legions. But I still haven't decided. Then again I also have my b-day and anniversary happening before the end of the challenge.
Bits wise the only thing I think I need to get is some more helion boards to convert into frigates and maybe a few more jetbikes for conversion into cruisers but that can wait.

Painting Table #16 2015
A little late on this post but the past couple of days have been brutal.
First off I finished off the custodian and 2 protectors for my tau BFG. May do a wash in the future but need to find the right mixture first.
Second, as you can see, I also spent more time on the firewarrior. This time I tried an actual wash and I tried a green one to see if it worked out better. Still not sure yet.
I am currently working on the other two earth shakers and taking pics and such for the wrap up of the tutorial. Comments and such welcome, now to go back and look closer at those models and see if I really missed those spots or it was the lighting/flash on the cell phone.....
More as I get it done and next week starts the 6MMRPC so stay tuned.

Status of projects and more details for 6MMRPC
Right now as you can see from the last post I am working on finishing up the initial schemes and such on the custodian and protectors. After that I want to spend whatever free time I can assembling the other 2 earth shakers. Hopefully, I will finish the assembly of them before the 6MMRPC starts up on June 1st.
After that here is what remains of the other current priority projects with the models I currently have for them:
40k Tau
Xv9 fusion x3
Xv9 phased ion x3
Broadside x2
Xv9 leader suit x1 (named forgeworld model that escapes me at the moment)
firewarrior/pathfinder x57
Kroot shaper x2
Kroot x24
Drones x 20+/-
total=112 models
BFG Tau
Warden x 3
Castellan x 3
Total= 6
40k Marines
tactical/sternguard x 49
dreadnought x3
terminators x19
heavy weapons x 4
total= 75
FSA Aqua
14 random ships (escorts, dread and 2 other types)
Dystopian Wars
frigates x 12
Mercs
texico/iss starters x13
So yeah a lot of work to do. Somewhere around 230 models to do. This doesnt count other possible projects I have running around like deadzone stuff or the scratch built BFG fleets I want to do.
Anyway more as soon as I can get it done.

Painting Table #15 2015
Today I have a few things to show.
First off I finished off darkstrider by giving him the same treatment as the fireblade.
I also got a lot of the basic work done on the custodian and 2 protectors.

Plan for the 6MMRPC
The plan is rather simple. Basically doing what I wanted to do anyway and the goals line up pretty well. Not sure how I will handle the jokers since I am more budget orientated.
The projects I want to complete this year are the following:
1. Tau, a bunch of firewarriors/pathfinders, some kroot and about 9 suits are left at this point
2. BFG Tau, should have the first 3 finished by end of month.
3. The 2 other earth shakers
4.The 2 Mercs starter sets, something like 14 models
5.The Aqua ships I have running around, I think 10 or so models
6. The dystopian war ships I found the other day, frigates for both fleets maybe 5 or 6 each.
The omg project if I somehow manage the others is my Space marines. I technicaly have zombies somewhere, I think... I have also decided to change up my terrain idea. Mainly because while working on getting the Mantic stuff fully assembled they have just aggravated me to no end. Especially the fortified bits. Not sure if I will get rid of them but I will definitely be changing my approach. More on that at a later date.
I have also found a method on the net for how I think I will deal with the whole playing surfaces issue. That will also be covered at a later date. At the moment this is a basic list of stuff. I will do a more detailed one before the 6MMRPC officially starts up on June 1st.
More as I figure it out and previews of what I have been working on tomorrow.

Tossing my hat in :THE 2nd ANNUAL 6 Month Mountain Reduction and Painting Challenge!
So I have decided to join the 6MMRPC. I am hoping this will help me not go over budget this year and figure it will be fun. I also figure if they all give permission I will add them to my painting table blog roll. You can find it here.
Alright everybody, it's time for the 2nd Annual 6 Month Mountain Reduction and Painting Challenge or 6MMRPC. We've changed up the time frame - it's going to run from June 1, 2015 thru November 30, 2015. This avoids Christmas. There have also been a few rules changes, and some exciting additions IN BOLD.
1. No purchasing of new miniatures, EXCEPT if you use a joker. You get three jokers to use on a figure purchase. Could be a blister pack, an ebay bundle, or a single figure...you can't splurge. The only exception to this rule is if you need bitz or A FIGURE (Singular) to complete a unit/warband etc.
1.1 - There is an opportunity to "earn" additional jokers. If you complete an entire project (whole unit/army/warband etc.) with pictures of starting, WIP, and completion, you earn yourself a Joker.
2. Gifts do not count against you. Holidays, birthdays etc. Also, if you're given gift cards by your hobby illiterate family or friends, you can without penalty use them on anything you want miniatures wise.
3. Paints, terrain (or materials), and other hobby supplies do not apply to the no purchasing rule.
4. At least one hobby related blog post and/or Instagram update a week. If you instagram, be sure to hashtag your pic with #6MMRPC
5. Zombtober will be part of the 6 month challenge so, Zombie related stuff during October is ENCOURAGED. Other theme suggestions are welcomed.
6. Anyone that wants to submit a before and after picture of a miniature that they are proud of completing during the course of the challenge to dmcffd@gmail.com will be entered into the running for a gift certificate to a online wargaming store of their choice. Judging will be by an un-biased person. Amount on the gift certificate will be dictated by winners nationality but should work out to about $30 U.S. I (Spiderweb of History) will not be eligible to win.
So spread the word folks, and lets make this an even better challenge than the last!
For those looking for additional info about this madness, please check out -

We look forward to seeing you there!
Suffice to say I am looking forward to this. I will have more deffinite plans on my goals in the next few days.

Comparison of the Tau paint Jobs
As requested here are the 3 paint jobs on 3 different figures. This also means I completed 1 more model and got 2 more points.
From left to right. 1 the fire warrior, just with the same paint job as the rest of the tau. 2 darkstrider with an sepia ink wash. 3 is the fireblade with a sepia ink wash and then with the colors done again lightly over the areas again.

So which do you think works out best. Personally I like the first and last more than the 2nd. My son really likes the 3rd one. Only down side if I go with the 3rd one is having to go back and do more to all the other models so it matches up. But that's no biggie. I have also made progress on some of the BFG tau stuff but more on that latter this week.
Please drop a comment below to let me know what you guys think.

Painting table #14 2015
Since I wrapped up most of the painting the other day my desk has a lot of newer stuff.
I have a fire warrior, 3 Tau BFG ships and I have been slowly working on the 2 other earth shakers. Still not sure what I will do with the earth shakers but they have been fun to build and I do want to finish the tutorial.
Anyway more to come this week, mainly the comparison picture of the three paint jobs.

More Tau progress and attempt 3
First off I finished off the smart missile systems for the devil fish. I also completed another gun drone and darkstrider. I am not counting the missile systems as models done because they have always been a planed part was just waiting on bits. So that is 2 more models and 4 more points.
Then following the advice from Greg, I took another shot at the Fireblade here is the result.
Please keep the comments coming guys. I am enjoying hearing new ideas and trying to improve my painting. So far between the two attempts I have 1 like it and redo them all and 1 person saying the original was better. Personally I am happy with all 3.
Cheers,
Aruki

The updated fireblade
So after the suggestion on the last post I gave it a shot and here are the results.
Now 2 questions on the feedback I am looking for. 1: Is it better or worse? 2. If better should I go back and ink all the suits, drones etc?

4 more completed Tau models
I finished off 3 more drones and the cadre fireblade guy. So 4 more models and 8 more points.
Next up is the smart missile systems for my devilfish which I assembled today, darkstrider and I also have started more work on the other two earth shakers so I can finish off that tutorial series. After that my son wants us assemble and paint the 6 xv9s and the special tau commander FW model I have.
So keep you eyes open.

Painting Table #13 2015
Well the big news is I finaly finished of the Rvanar. It took forever but the most time consuming part was the arms. So treating it as a vehicle that is 6 more points and one more model done. I also started working on the Cadre and a few more drones. I hope to finish them off this comming up week along with darkstrider. After that I will move on to something. Not sure what yet.
Anyway enjoy the below pics more stuff as I do it.

Review of the first 4 months
The first four months have been productive, but not as productive as I would have liked.
I have managed to paint 47 models/terrain projects for a total of 103 points.
Here is what they were:
Tau
9x sniper drones
3x marksmen
23x other drones (will update this when I go back and count the types)
Space Marines
5x assault marines
1x chaplain
1x siege guy
DKK
1x Sargent
1x earth shaker
FSA Aqua
1x manta battle carrier
Epic
1x warhound titan
Terrain
1x planet
I have bout 27 models. This isn't completely accurate because I also bought some DE jetbikes and hellion stuff to make DE BFG ships. I think it will make maybe 8 ships.
Namely:
9x tau BFG ships
3x XV9's with phased ion
1x broadside
10x FSA aqua ships
4x heavy weapon Space Marines
Spending wise I have already blown most of my budget. On the bright side I have all the bits and everything for all of my current projects. I will probably spend the rest on my Trafalgar stuff or on some mats. But we will see. I have a feeling I may go over budget if even a quarter of all the rumors turn out to be true this year. Especially with the temptation of DZC space ship game.
Anyway painting table tomorrow with some good news.
