6MMRPC Wrap Up

Figured I would do a short write up of what I managed to finish during this challenge.

Let's start with a review of what I wanted to finish.
1. Tau, a bunch of firewarriors/pathfinders, some kroot and about 9 suits are left at this point
2. BFG Tau, should have the first 3 finished by end of month.
3. The 2 other earth shakers
4.The 2 Mercs starter sets, something like 14 models
5.The Aqua ships I have running around, I think 10 or so models
6. The dystopian war ships I found the other day, frigates for both fleets maybe 5 or 6 each.


I also wanted to do some terrain and such. So here is what I did finish.
1. I finished everything for the Tau.
2. Bfg tau and Bfg Dark Eldar were completed.
3. They were built but never painted since my overall gaming focus has changed.
4. I completed both of the Mercs starter sets.
5. I completed all the aqua and dindrenzi ships.
6. I completed all the Dystopian war ships.
7. I completed 5 of the 7 Nomad models from the infinity starter.
8. I completed a bunch of buildings and other terrain.
9. Completed both DZC starter sets

I think this is about everything. I may have missed some stuff here or there. I however completed all of the projects I set out to do. Along with a bunch of other stuff. I am happy with my overall work during this project.

I have joined up with GMG painting support group for next year.

6MMRPC/ Painting Table #40 2015

This week I not only finished a bunch of models but also had a chance to play a slightly modified version of DW with my oldest.

Overall he did well especially since he keeps picking the harder fleets and such in games to play as a beginner. Actually only luck kept him from destroying only 1 ship in round two. The second pick was the status of the game at the end of round two.

This week I also finished off the baharus and all the imperials for my warzone stuff.

So that's another 22 models and another 44 points completed. Along with jokers of course. But honestly I stopped keeping track of them since I never use them really. Never mind the only things I would like to get I will probably get as presents. My birthday and anniversary are both this month so hopefully that will work out.

One final announcement for today. I am planning on doing greggles dread challenge this month, mainly because I have 3 dreadnoughts I have to paint at some point anyway. I also really don't want to dig out any of my undead stuff that I have no use  for yet. I will put some pictures up next week of the before stuff for you guys.

6MMRPC/ Painting Table #32 2015

A good week so far. Though tomorrow will probably be a dead day hobby wise. I finished off the 1 last drone, the 6 KOB frigates and the 6 Prussian frigates. Finally, an added bonus, I did the dog and the marshal from my texico starter set.

The dog was actually the hardest part of everything. He took about two hours with inking washing and dry brushing. The marshal and the rest went fast.

So that is 15 models, and a total of a massive 30 points. On top of that it is two more jokers for me bringing me to 6. For finishing off the two Dystopian Wars forces. They now have no remaining models. The tau are 9 models away from completion and the texico starter has 4 models left.

More as I get it done.

6MMRPC/ Painting Table #31 2015

This week was not to productive from a picture stand point. I got my Exploding kittens kickstarter and my mantis creations carrying cases as well. On top of that their was a lot of furniture being moved around this week and such. So what did I get done. 

Well I finished painting  these 13 drones. I also found one more drone while cleaning and organizing after moving all the furniture.  

This week I also did a matt coat on all of my FSA and BFG ships that have been painted. I also cleaned up primed and based all my DW ships.So 9 more suits and 1 drone are all that are left of my tau. This week I hope to finish off the ships and the last drone. After that I will probably move onto either more assembly or more hand priming since the weather is still crazy. As soon as the humidity and heat even out I should have a bunch of stuff ready to get done.

Anyway that is 13 more models done and 26 points.

More as I get it done.

Late mid year review

So lets go back over the goals for the year.

Goals
1. Paint all the tau stuff I have.
2. Paint the 2 merc forces I have
3. Paint 400 points
4. Build/paint at least 2 pieces of terrain.
5. Paint more than I buy again. preferably on the 2 to 1 scale
6. $350 or less in spending


So where are we in the grand scheme of things.
1. All but 13 drones and 9 suits done. After they are finished it will be all good for now. I may in the future add new things but I have no plans to.

2. The first Merc force is assembled and will hopefully be painted soon. The other shouldn't be to far behind.

3. I am currently at 335 points. Well on my way to the 400 point goal for the year.

4. This one is completely done. I have painted way more than 2 pieces of terrain this year. Just with the planets I did, never mind all the deadzone stuff.

5. So far the paint more than I buy is well ahead of the goal with  156 to 41.

6. I am once again over budget by $45 and change. This will hopefully be different in the future.

Now for the 6MMRPC stuff.

1. As noted above this one is well on the way to being finished.
2. Already finished.
3. Finished though not painted.

That already earned me 1 joker, I am not sure for the earthshakers since I mainly finished them since I had them. They are still available to a good home by the way just for the cost of shipping. The Epic Space Marines and Titan group are also still available.

6MMRPC/ Painting Table #29 2015

You may have noticed a lack of posts this week. There are 2 reasons for that, mainly the humidity at the moment which has killed a lot of my hobby time, the other part is I will be on vacation by the time you read this. So I wanted to maximize  my available hobby time with my prep work. Since at this point my airbrush is almost useless do to the temp/humidity.

So here is what I did. One big wall of pictures ahead. In short I got both towers assembled and one primed and the yellow done. I assembled one of the XV9 suits with phased ion guns. Primed some ruins, walls and such to paint up. Cleaned up the 12 remaining Dystopian wars frigates for my two factions. Assembled and cleaned up my Texico faction box for Mercs. Assembled some stripped Gun drones. Finaly I started painting some wall sections and doors for the 2x1 buildings already finished.

Not pictured but also done was the clean up of a bunch more deadzone stuff. Getting ready to assemble some bridges and maybe a few more smaller buildings. So you can look forward to more assembly pictures and maybe even painting next week. I am hopping to get more done soon since on the table now along with whats assembled is another 3 jokers.

Painting Table #17 2015

This is the final painting table before the start of the 6MMRPC. First off I plan on continuing work on the two last earthshakers and maybe also working on some pathfinders and  firewarriors. Here is a pick of those firewarrios and pathfinders with the primer and base coat done also did a bit of orange detail work on 1 guy. No pictures of the earth shakers until the next tutorial post which should be in the next week or so depending on kids and work. Also sorry the pick is so bad couldn't get a good one to save my life today.

For jokers I have decided to do it by project. So the rest of the tau would be one. Same with my marines if I get to them. The rest of the bfg tau will be one, the rest of the aqua prime ships will also be one. Each merc squad will be one along with each of the infinity factions. All the dystopian wars would also count as one. That is like 9 more possible jokers. I may have more in the future but honestly I have no idea what I will do with the jokers in the first  place.

Maybe at the end of the 6 months I will reward myself x amount for each joker I have. This maybe a nice way  since I also blew the last of my budget on the infinity starter. There are still other starters I may want in the future mainly dropzone commander, Planet fall and dystopian legions. But I still haven't decided. Then again I also have my b-day and anniversary happening before the end of the challenge.

Bits wise the only thing I think I need to get is some more helion boards to convert into frigates and maybe a few more jetbikes for conversion into cruisers but that can wait.

Status of projects and more details for 6MMRPC

Right now as you can see from the last post I am working on finishing up the initial schemes and such on the custodian and protectors. After that I want to spend whatever free time I can assembling the other 2 earth shakers. Hopefully, I will finish the assembly of them before the 6MMRPC starts up on June 1st.

Plan for the 6MMRPC

The plan is rather simple. Basically doing what I wanted to do anyway and the goals line up pretty well. Not sure how I will handle the jokers since I am more budget orientated.

The projects I want to complete this year are the following:

The omg project if I somehow manage the others is my Space marines. I technicaly have zombies somewhere, I think... I have also decided to change up my terrain idea. Mainly because while working on getting the Mantic stuff fully assembled they have just aggravated me to no end. Especially the fortified bits. Not sure if I will get rid of them but I will definitely be changing my approach. More on that at a later date.
I have also found a method on the net for how I think I will deal with the whole playing surfaces issue. That will also be covered at a later date. At the moment this is a basic list of stuff. I will do a more detailed one before the 6MMRPC officially starts up on June 1st.

Some new group pics

quick update

Finished off the last hull for the aircraft carrier and the rest of my titans.
1x Dw boat hull (and guns)
3x warhound titans
1 x warlord titan

 I also painted the Betty mini from bombshell today as well. This model actually woke me up at about 5am, then I just sat down and started painting her.  I realize I need to work more on faces.

So that raises me to a total of

This last piece of my DW brit forces completes the naval aspect of them for now. Group pic  in next few days along with a few others. I am now concentrating on epic sm and tau, more as I get it done.

Promised update, DW and epic

So as stated in the painting post from Saturday I finished off a bunch of models. I also finished a couple other models as well.

 Here is the list of what was finished:
6 escorts
6 fighter tokens
1 warhound titan
1 warlord titan
the deck of the aircraft carrier
1 hull for the aircraft carrier

I am doing the aircraft carrier as 3 pieces mainly because each one really is a ship in its own right.
So that brings the YTD totals to the following:
Feb: 25 points
YTD total: 25 points

YTD models painted: 28

Going to finish off the last hull and then the rest of the titans next.

Painting table Saturday 4

Whats on the table hasn't changed much but on the other hand I  have actually finished a dozen of them. I finished the 6 fliers and I also finished off the 6 escorts. The main deck of the aircraft carrier is almost finished. The hulls need  a bit more work and I need to find the guns but then they will be done as well. Two of the titans are also almost finished they just need a bit more clean up to be finished.

I will update the rest of the webpage and post finished pics in next few days. Finishing off the carrier asap and the titans then on to more epic marines and maybe tau.

Painting table Saturday 3

This week was a good week. On top of the 10 models I already finished I also finished 2 more just the other day. The last frigate and the british bomber I hadnt finished. I also did quite a lot of work on the titans and started working on the aircraft carrier for my british force.

This coming up week I plan on trying to finish off as many titans and british boats as possible. I also plan on bring out more epic stuff to get painted up. I still plan on trying to finish the chapter this year. On that note if anyone knows anyone with spare SCOUT STANDS please drop me a line or ask them to. They are the key models I am missing to finish off my chapter.

Painting table Saturday 1

As I discussed in my last post I decided to copy sofie and do this. Below are pics of what I have on the table at the moment. This week was mainly priming and basecoating  of models. I primed and base coated all the FSA ships, DW stuff, 3 warhounds, a warlord and the two gun drones. I also started painting more detail on the other warhound and warlord. I also assembled two more stands of assault marines for epic 40k.

This week I hope to finish off at least the two titans I started and maybe the FSA stuff since thats usually easy to do quickly. I mainly want to start making up for time after the injury and such.

DW Prussian painting tutorial

Painting my DW prussians is rather easy.

The Ships
Step 1: prime in black (my case GW chaos black)
step 2: Base coat all but deck in GW Codex grey
step 3: paint wooden bits in GW graveyard earth
step 4: Guns and metal decking and other misc bits painted in GW chainmail
step 5: wash metal bits except for guns and the hull in GW badab black, paint guns GW  burnished gold along with other details
step 6: wash deck with GW gryphon sepia
Step 7: squadron marks to taste
step 8: magnetize turrets.

Painting update

So yeah here is the first painting update since the move.

As you can see I have started messing with the FSA Aquan paint scheme. The jade green base with some orange for the gems. I am thinking of doing a second darker green as an accent and then a really light blue for the engines. Then of course touch up.

I have also started on another squad (20) romans. So far, since base was done, I have completed the armor and cloth. Next up is cloth and skin and then touch up.

Finally, I finished magnetizing the DW brit ships.

So look forward to some painting finishing in next week or 2 namely the Aqua and romans. Then probably another batch of romans. I think I want to finish them off before the end of the year and there aren't that many left. After that I have no idea. Let me know if you guys would like to see something.

DW Brit Painting Tutorial

The * indicates steps done with an airbrush. And as the title says this is for the DW Brit fleet.

Ships: (frigates,cruisers,Battleship)
*Step 1: Primed with Vallejo Grey Primer
*Step 2: The hull is primed with Vallejo Game color Imperial Blue
Step 3: Wooden decks were painted in Vallejo game color Parasite Brown and then given a GW gryphon sepia wash.
Step 4: Gun decks were painted in GW chainmail and then washed with GW badab black (this is true on the smaller ships for the engine areas as well)
Step 5: Torpedo tubes were painted with Vallejo Game color Bone white (2 coats)
Step 6: Smoke stacks were painted GW chainmail and then washed with GW badab black
Step 7: struts were painted GW chaos black
Step 8: guns/generators were painted with GW Chainmail for the barrels and GW chaos for the main turret pieces.
Step 9: Squad markers painted on cruisers and frigates on top areas of smoke stacks.
Step 10: magnetize the turrets and put magnets in the holes for the turrets

Fighters:
*Step 1: same as step 1 and 2 for ships
Step 3: Edge of bases lattice work painted with Vallejo Game Color silver
Step 4: Using an old splayed brush did clouds on bases with Vallejo game color Bone white
Step 5: Unit type done on the tips of the wings with GW skull white, GW ultramarines blue and GW chaos Black

Bombers:
*Step 1: same as Ships step 1-3
Step 4: Squad markings.

Late week update

Sorry about lack of updates I have just been rather busy with packing and sick kids. So here is what I have done. I managed to salvage 2 cruisers and the battleship that were damaged from the dendrenzi starter. I have also built the carrier, escorts and and fliers from my Britannia starter. The titans are also ready as well. I should be able to finish off these hopefully in the next few days.

Updates will be as much as I can the next two weeks but no promises on the amount.

Tau and SM finished up

As the tittle says I finished up basing the priming and base coating the Tau and SM. I also primed and base coated the the warhound and warlord titans for epic.

I also got almost all of the tanks and other titans and tanks stripped and are almost ready for paint. Just a few more to finish up and then I will prime and base them all. A few I still can't get all the paint off of so I have to decide how to handle them.

In spending news their are multiple changes. FSA I bought was refunded do to some issues but on bright side I get to keep the models I got. But I also purchased some other stuff.

So the update for this month is as follows.
Ebay: + $116.35
FSA: refunded
Paints, filters etc: -$17.88
DW stuff: -$26.03
Omni stand stuff: -$24.90

Remaining for the month: + $47.54

So on the bright side I should still come out with a surplus of cash this month to roll into the debt.
